1995 UNLTD Restoration

Post by Mark »

This is just the beginning; I've got the 1st item for this restoration in the mail today!

Yes, it's a restoration, not a build, as the frame was stripped of its paint and decals. So, first order of business is to send it for powdercoating.

I'll put the nuke proofs on either the 1993 or 1994 A2X..

This UNLTD will get the parts that were specced for it like all the red Ringle kit, the red Toplines, etc.

The back story on this one is fairly straight-forward.

A fella from Norway bought it new, rode it lovingly and eventually parted it out, keeping the frame and stripping it down as he grew tired of the paint scheme. Had plans to build it up again which stalled, and he ended up listing it for sale.

I received it and fact-checked the bike and it all looks good.

My plans are to restore it to original glory, as close to factory as I can get. The hardest part will be the crank, as toplines are scarce, due to their issues with cracking, and that I have to pair red arms with blue spider and then add Sugino rings to it.

I'll likely complete the frame in the next few months. I plan on sending it to Spectrum Powder Works in Colorado Springs for the powder coating and decal applicaton (will do my own graphics for it, and add to our collection). The rest of the bike will be completed as I acquire the parts over the winter (my hope). I'm thinking I'll finish this bike before the A2X projects. That is, unless there's a revolt here!
