Here is the finished product of the top tube frame bracing prior to welding. What you guys think? The next project is to fabricate a mount for the FZR fairing.

Well, I have found a new use for my bicycle repair stand. It works good for holding the RZ's bodywork while repairing.

Hey BICYCLE, MOTORCYCLE....they are very close so I see no issue with using the stand !

Hey Mix, has this crazy monsoon weather been hitting you ? We have had three weeks of solid rain with flooding. My buddy and I did a ride this morning in a lighting storm with heavy rain...stupid move, but we were tired of being stuck at home !

I have been working on the steering head the past week. I had to create a different fork stop as the factory stop allowed too much travel, allowing my brake reservoir to hit the gauges. Also had to redesign the steering lock as the factory RZ lock stop didn't mate with the FZR600 top tree lock. As well as fabricating a mount for the fairing bracket. This was my first attempt at welding and can tell you my technique sucked.

I've been trudging along with this project and thought I would post an update: I have been working on securing the mid fairing to the frame this past weekend. Had to fab some brackets and weld to the frame. Getting things level is the hardest part for me. I bought a really cool Craftsman laser level system at a garage sale and has really helped me out. I have 3 more sets of mounts to fab to complete this phase.

I have been working on finishing the fairing mid and lower brackets. Lots of fab, lots of fitting. But it is coming along. The first image is the front lower fairing frame stays made out of 1"x1" steel tubing, then tack welded to the frame. The second is the mock up with the lower fairing. I drilled it and welded a 6mm nut and moved to the next bracket.

Next is the rear lower bracket. I built two stays from 3/4" x 3/4" square tube, welded a nut on the back and tack welded to the frame. I made a bracket similar to the factory FZR brackets by shaving off of the 1"x1" square tube.
