As stated, anything goes.

I have gotten to the point of avoiding working for Human Resource driven companies.
And when I hear the question, "Tell me about a time... " , I am out the door.. :ugeek:

Same spot, bro. Been doing my thing for 15+ years. They would rather have 8 months of 'culinary school' instead of said 15+ real world experience.

I hope I can find myself in ya'lls shoes sooner than later. I don't think too many people would be as happier working for someone else.

I made a go at my own construction company back in 2008. Set up the S-Corp in May/June worked alot through the summer and had 4 jobs lined up to carry me throught the winter. Then came the economic collapse of Sept/Oct. and all those jobs said WHOAAAAA buddy, better wait till this passes...I'm still waiting.

I moved out to Utah after that, lived in SLC and continued building homes in Park City. Had a pretty good thing going there and surprisingly the UT economy was not hammered quite so bad as the NC economy, but I longed for home so back I came.

You self empowered, I mean employeed, guys keep telling us how awesome it is so the rest of us wage laborers can stoke the fire of persevernace.

I don't know what to say about the job market. Everything is messed up right now. Especially for us older guys. No one wants to hire people anywhere near retirement. I guess when everything dries up for me, I can be a greeter for Home Depot or Walmart..

Agree with Mix on that note..I know now that I should have gone to college, but I did not just like a number of others and now they act like you need a degree to work in fast food even. They push going back to school but what business would hire a 50 something fresh out of colege over a 20 year old kid with stars in their eyes right out of college.
By the way I do hope things turn out good for you Will but I wish more Cuda heads would jump on this thread for what it was made for...it sure was nice to see and hear about each of us that write on this site and there are a few that chime in from time to time that have not made a show yet....STOP LURKING AND POST!!!!!

Ain't that the mother-flippin truth...says the the rhyme-o-nosaurus. (or was it the hip-hop-opotamus??)

Pee2 da Wee, no man, I am no longer reside in Utah. I was only there for a little under a year. I loved the mountain biking behind the hospital. I can't remember all the names of the trails but I seem to recall that City Creek was particularly rad, if you could ride it when there wasn't much trail traffic. Even though I don't relate to religion, I must say that all my Mormon friends were super cool and not judgemental in the least about my hedonistic ways! They really seemed to embrace that whole judge not lest ye be judged yourself part of the bible that southern christians for the most part glaze right on over.

Someday when my lady and I dont have as much family back east I would love to live in Utah. I think it would be a grewat place to start a family. My parents were actually just in Utah (SLC, Canyonlands, etc) for a week and they could not believe how clean the city was and how accomodating and friendly everyone was too. Where about do you live? I was in Sugarhouse when I was there, 1169E 1300S, just a short hop skip and a jump from Emigration Canyon and the Homestead (?) park where a lot of the trailheads are located.

Thanks for the thought though, much appreciated.

I live in what we call "almost Sugarhouse" South Salt Lake - Few blocks east of State street and 2700 S. I don't know if you ever rode the Parley's Nature Reserve, as you are going east on I-80 like you are going to Park City, it's the big gully off to the south/right hand side before you hit the base of Parley's canyon. Still in the city and it's right up the hill. They also have a bad ass little BMX area that the regulars built and maintain very well, whoop-de-doos, monster air jumps, berms and the like. All buried in the woods.

I was a children's 'non-denominational' Pastor in West Texas for several years (people laugh when I say that but it's true), so I hear what you are saying on the southern christian thing. Also, duh, I live in Utah and my mom's family are all uber Mormon. They were a little militaristic about it but I have several return missionary friends that are not judgmental if I show up to dinner with beer on my breath.

Crap now I have to post some pics. Got me all fiending for bike porn.

Check the Member Bikes section here in a bit.
