This is stretching my recall quite a bit but if memory serves the Mountain Express was one of the higher model bikes. The bike has Shimano Exage components which became the LX group. Given the crank has the yellow BioPace sticker on the big chainring, that puts the bike between 1987 and 1990. I'm almost positive that the Mountain Express model became the Tonapah model in the 90's. Checking the oldest listing on BikePedia, the 1993 Tonapah was Tange CrMo with Shimano Exage.

With the large frame and ideal quill stem for your lanky build, this bike would be an excellent trail or commuting bike. The Zefel frame pump is worth $20.00, I just sold one on Craigslist this week for $25.00. Certainly the seller spent $40.00 or more on the new tires, Slime tubes, and seat (though you'd have to donate that hideous gel saddle to the misses). This bike will climb like a goat, handle anything you throw at it, and at $75.00 it's cheap for being a rare tall bike!

What's not to like?
