The Axis was Diamond Back's top-of-the-line model, it would have had full XT group if memory serves. Vinny you're right there with the '90 or '92 guess. I'll split the difference and say 1991. Looking at the XT pods, those were the high line XT shifters with the little cut away windows to save weight. I have the same shifters on my '93 A2L, I robbed them from my '91 Stumpjumper Comp when I parted it out to sell the frame. If you want I'll send a message to my buddy "frantik" over on Bike Forums, he is the guru of all things D'back, he can settle it for sure. Since I'm speaking about frantik, I figure I'll post his newest score... the Holy Grail to a fan of D.B. bike.
Don I skip 91 due to finding pictures of that model at that year but none had that paint job..but you can tell from the bike that is the time frame it should be in....will be cool to get a year on it..Nice bike for sure !
My buddy "frantik" came through with the info as I knew he would...
Big V. nailed it, the D.B. Axis is a 1992 model, gray with blue pearl.
Follow the link to page 10 in the catalog, bottom right corner has the color swatch, it has the same double butted True Temper OX frame as the "pro" model but with XT group instead of 8 speed XTR. I forgot that the "silver" XTR hit the bikes on the 1992 top model lines.
Sucks, the link would not work for me. Grab that ride Derek....But do not use to ride to work, just a hint! You know the saying...steal my bike once, shame on you..steal my bike twice, shame on me...steal my bike a third time, I am a dumb ass
Derek knows my humor, but I must say, if the owner will not allow workers bikes inside then I would stop riding my bike to work. I know Derek enjoys his ride but how many need be lost due to scum bags that think it is a free ride when they see one in the open. As I have said before, drive or Walmart crap bike...to me if the bike is outside the owner is on the saddle and the scum bag has to kill to take..that kind of lowers the number of scum bags willing to take the bike .
Also told the GM at my place if he wouldn't let me bring my bikes inside I would find another job. Now they rest nice and cozy upstairs in the VIP lounge.
Still available, trying to get her to meet me halfway so I can ride it home.
