More information and material coming our way..

Post by Mark »

God, I love the internet!

Out of the blue I received an email from David Townsend, who was the genius behind the Barracuda brand. Yep, he's the fella responsible for coming up with the graphics and marketing materials which steered most of us straight for the Barracuda bikes we own and love today.

David is kind enough to send me some material which I will scan and make available online shortly. He has also provided me with some more information which allows me to piece more of the Barracuda history together.

David, thank you!

Stay tuned folks..

Just received an email update from David this morning. The items I am happy to receive are:

- Comp of Barracuda dealer display
- 2 Tree Amigos ads as they ran in Bicycling and Bicycle Guide magazines
- A dealer benefit worksheet
- A dealer reply tear off card
- A VERY early comp of the original Barracuda that was (thankfully) never used
- Several dealer certificates
- A genuine, never worn, original Barracuda race jersey from Revi Cyclewear

This is by far the largest donation that the website has received, and I am ecstatic. I will have images and scans of this material online within a week of receiving it.

If you wish to thank David yourselves, you can reach him via his website. The link is on the acknowledgements page of the website.

Best,
Mark

Ever wondered what the original barracuda mascot looked like?

I'm not kidding. This is a piece of original artwork that David has provided. ;)

More goodness. This is a Barracuda Dealer Display composite. It's original artwork from David Townsend, who created this to show the Barracuda leadership what a typical dealer would have on display. Circa 1992/93.
